The 2008 European season burst into life last weekend at the HTTT Paul
Ricard with the Official Le Mans Series Test Days.
There was a degree of Phoney War as Peugeot and Audi did not go head
to head, the French team assembling in Florida for the first of many miles
of hard competition. Sebring's 12 Hours will be the first battle ground in a
few weeks.
So Audi topped the timesheets but the petrol-heads are getting closer with
Pescarolo's perennial challenge being joined by a Lola Aston Martin, the
ORECA Courages and fastest of all Creation-AIM. Bicks will have allowed
himself a smile with that effort and maybe a sniffter or two.
New projects were everywhere, Epsilon's striking new LMP1 car, Aston's
GT2, Lola's coupes in LMP 1 and 2, Porsche Spyders competing on this
side of the Atlantic for the first time.......all of this contradicting the gloomy
economic outlook.
The 2008 LMS is certain to be one best sportscar competitions for a long
time and JB was around the fringes with Canons in hand........enjoy and
anticipate
