The 2007 Le Mans Series effectively ended last weekend at Silverstone, the final
race due to be held in November on the Interlagos circuit in Sao Paulo is currently
struggling to get confirmed entries or even into to double figures. A sorry situation
and having endured similar debacles in the old Mangoletsi FIASCC/ISRS/SRWC
days my advice is to kill the race off sooner than later.
Under blues skies and bright sunshine 45 cars contested the Northampton
1000kms event and generally a good time was had by all......Peugeot even
contrived to hand Pescarolo Sport a late tilt at the title when the Sarrazin/Lamy car
retired towards the end of the race....Henri's boys are now making the trip to the
Southern Hemisphere, maybe more will follow. The other oil burner nearly lost the
plot before the flag dropped, Gene spinning on the pace lap............not sure he
would have understood the Anglo Saxon from a Creation trained Nic Minassian
had he not retrieved the situation.
There was an air of sadness in the pitlane when the news of Courage selling out
to Oreca emerged..................Yves has epitomised the spirit of endurance racing for
over 25 years, he will be missed by those of us who understand such
things....Merci.
As ever JB was dragging the 5 and the 3 around..............here is what he saw.
