Valencia WTCC or Petit Le Mans for the weekend? Until this year there could only have been one answer to this question but in 2005 the FIA World Championship tag and the intense competition at the races meant that WTCC got my vote......it also a sign of the weakness of the ALMS series but that is another debate. The WTCC is now the last international arena for true sprint racing................two 13 lap blasts with no quarter given or taken......top drivers, top cars, top teams, top action.......the first race was a dream come true for Jordi Gene and SEAT, victory in front of the substantial Spanish crowd (over 50,000 for the weekend). The second sprint was a real roller coaster ride with the three remaining contenders for the World Title, Andy Priaulx, Dirk Muller and Fabrizio Giovanardi locked in battle for the whole race just behind Jorg Muller...........absolutely fantastic racing.............JB was dodging the flying metal and getting this view from the armco. Roll on Macau................ |
